Frequently asked questions about the Market Screenings:
1. Does my film automatically get a Market Screening if I put it in the DOK Market? No. The digital DOK Market and the Market Screenings are independent of each other. Both need to be booked separately.
2. What's the difference between the DOK Market and a Market Screening? The DOK Market makes films available at individual viewing stations. A Market Screening takes place in the cinema.
3. What's the difference between a Market Screening and the Leipzig Screening? Films for the Leipzig Screening are selected by DOK Leipzig in co-operation with German Films and AG DOK. We are looking for the best German documentaries of the current year.
Admittance to the Leipzig Screenings is by invitation only. DOK Leipzig invites film buyers, distributors and festival programmers.
With a Market Screening you book the cinema for a presentation of your film and you invite your audience. DOK Leipzig does not invite guests and does not include the Market Screenings in its publications (Programme Guide, Catalogue, Website).
4. Can I book a Market Screening and charge an admission fee to cover my costs? No.
5. Who does DOK Leipzig offer these Market Screenings for? Market Screenings are for example aimed at:
- production companies who want to check a rough cut in the cinema during the festival week
- distributors who want to show a film from the DOK Market on the big screen or repeat a film from the festival programme
- filmmakers who want to present their film on the big screen and are able to organise their own audience
