Subject:
In the recent decades, the enormous load of information and new developments in communications and technology have dramatically changed the dynamic of our everyday lives. Terms such as globalization, digitalization or mobility are almost omnipreseent. One can see the consequences at every step: the fragmentation of time, information overload, loss of orientation or changes in the ways people relate to each other. Traditional foundations become disturbed and speed does not necessarily come with more time, freedom or enjoyment. When do we ever have space to be by ourselves?
Films we are looking for :
We are looking for a remarkable proposal, a persuasive film concept in dealing with the subject and the protagonists, a clear film structure and a distinct visual and sound style. The programme aims to support quality creative documentaries that would be the opposite of conventional television programming. We challenge Czech and German filmmakers to go beyond the surface of their lives, their country and culture, as related to the subject or the absence of time, moment, speed, frequency and rhythm... Borders of the work remain open and the resulting film can involve multiple genres and forms.
Every project, whether Czech or German, should focus on culture and life in their respective country.
The aim of the project is to provide financial and production support for three Czech and three German short documentary films that should premiere in the autumn of 2009 at the international documentary film festivals in Jihlava and Leipzig. Submitted projects should be relevant to the subject matter given above and the length should not exceed 30 minutes. Both young and established directors from the Czech Republic and Germany had until April 7, 2008 to submit their projects.
